I love to shop at a gourmet market about a mile from my house. It’s full of organic fruits and vegetables, unique cheeses, fresh fish, and about a zillion types of prosciutto. I enjoy just walking around and seeing and smelling everything, even if I don’t buy anything, so I’m there a few times a week. I realized I was driving every single time, and those miles added up. I realized it was sort of hypocritical of me to be all about organic produce, yet drive a mile to buy them! So now I walk to the store. I only go once or twice a week now, but it’s actually even better because I can anticipate and plan while walking there, and then reflect on what I’ve purchased on my walk home. (Oh, and knowing I’m going to carry the stuff home means I don’t buy too much, so it’s been good for my wallet too!)
